Among the women receiving the grants were Anique Adams, pursuing her MBA in Human Resource Management; Alethea Byers, working on her Master’s in Social Work; Sherry Ann Jacobs, doing online study for her Bachelor’s Degree in Literacy Studies; Camesha Joseph, working on an Associate’s Degree in Banking and Commerce; and Kiz Nathaniel, going for a Bachelor’s Degree in Management Studies.  Also awarded were Orena Nurse, studying Tourism Management; Diedra Peterson, pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Medicine and Surgery; Debora Pozo, working on an Associate’s Degree in Accounting; Assata Roberts, studying online for her Master’s Degree in Communications/Media; and Maricia Samuel, pursuing her Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology.

The IWC Scholarship Program was begun in 1992, and to date the club has awarded 120 scholarships, totaling $372,300 EC. The program is open to women of Antiguan nationality who are pursuing tertiary educational goals, and recipients are expected to return to Antigua upon completion of their studies and apply what they have learned toward the betterment of the nation.  Applications were made available in March, and were completed by early May.

To provide funds for the program, the IWC conducts several fundraisers including an annual Golf Tournament at Cedar Valley, to be held this year in October, and the new “Antigua’s Got Rhythm” Children’s Talent Show that took place in April.  In addition, the 60 club members also participate in various social events where money is raised through raffles and auctions.

For more information about the club, interested women are asked to contact President K.C. Nash at 723-7740.
