Antigua Open Street Map
Open Street Map is a free editable map of the whole world. It is made by people like you. Open Street Map allows you to view, edit and use geographical data in a collaborative way from anywhere on Earth. The project was started because most maps you think of as free actually have legal or technical restrictions on their use, holding back people from using them in creative, productive or unexpected ways.
How does Open Street Map work?
The Map data for Open Street Map is collected in various ways. The most common method is recording tracks from journeys using a GPS device similar to a SatNav. The GPS receiver stores the current position every second and produces a breadcrumb track of the route you have walked, ridden or driven. The locations of Points of Interest (POIs) can also be recorded with a GPS.

The person collecting the data (the mapper or cartographer) also notes down important information like street names, POI details, important features and other things that they would like to see on the map.
Data collection for Antigua is being coordinated by Steve Chilton, who recently visited from the UK.
