Sports Fishing Tournament

This year’s event will take place from 10th-13th June 2011.

Antigua and Barbuda’s Annual Sports Fishing Tournament is a popular event attracting both regional and international participation.

Supporters gather daily at the Catamaran Marina in Falmouth not only to watch the fish weigh in, but also to buy it from a local fish stall.  It is a laid-back day of eating, drinking and general good humour as locals, ex-pats and visitors mingle alongside the docks waiting to see ‘The Big One’ come in.

The tournament has developed into a fantastic dock party over the two main fishing days. The party is almost as important as the fishing.

New for 2011 is the Antigua and Barbuda Marlin Classic which will be held on the Bank Holiday Monday, after the tournament. There will be a US$1000 entry fee with the winning boat taking 80% of the entry fees from all boats.

In September, a one day tournament, the Francis Nunes Jr. Memorial Tournament and Sea Food Festival takes place.
