Moods Of Pan Festival
The Gemonites Steel Orchestra is much more than a Steel band or musical organization. They are the producers of the renowned “Moods of Pan festival”(MOP) and they are respected and much sought-after performing artists in their own rights.
The Moods of pan is the brainchild of Gemonites, has steadily grown since its inception, in outlook and recognition. As one interacts with the members of Gemonites, you realize that they are really a ‘throw back’ to the early days of the steel bands in many respects, when they represented the villages and communities where they are from. Steel bands were made up of larger-than-life figures, and were looked upon to organized and provide additional functions to their communities beyond musical entertainment. Gemonites clearly has accomplished this through its international presence and commitment to local educational programs that foster cultural development.
The Annual Moods of Pan traditionally starts at the last Thursday of November and this year it falls on 28th November 2010. Moods of Pan is one of the premier music festivals in the region.
This year, Moods of Pan features artistes such as Pannist Ken “Professor” Philmore , and a young female pannist Vanessa Headley and comedian Learie Joseph and Daryl Mendoza. The event starts at 6.30 PM at the Dean William Lake Cultural Centre.
