Love is All We Need Concert
Faith Evans, Shermain Jeremy, King Short Shirt and Ginuwine are among the line-up of artistes slated to perform at the first annual “Love Is All We Need” concert over the Father’s Day weekend at the new Sugar Ridge Hotel. Renowned actor, director and performer Malik Yoba of Why Did I Get Married Too fame will be hosting the two-night event organised by the US Tourism Team, which has twinned the concert with the fourth annual Destination Wedding ceremony to celebrate June as the month for romance.
The concert’s first segment on Saturday, June 19 has been dubbed “Queens of State” with headliner Grammy Award singer Faith Evans, Dominican born hip opera performer Marie-Claire and local songstress Shermain Jeremy.
On June 20, Father’s Day, Yoba will host the “Men of Soul” concert featuring award winning performer Ginuwine, and local artistes Kenne Blessing and the legendary King Short Shirt. Director of the US Tourism Team Derede Samuel-Whitlock said the Love Is All We Need concert is the next best follow-up event to the Romantic Rhythms Concert which she described as a winning concept that resonated on the local, regional and international level after its first and only staging here in 2008.
“The long-term vision for Romantic Rhythms was to use music as one of many backdrops to celebrate romance – there’s cuisine, there’s adventure, romantic movies … music is the one that is more permeating, and so we didn’t want to lose sight,” Samuel-Whitlock said.“So as we regroup and determine how we move forward with the international entertainment, we’ve been speaking with Malik and some of our “love” partners including the Sugar Ridge (Hotel) … who have gone above and beyond in helping to host this concert.”
The charge is a total of US$50 per person for each night or they you can take advantage of a special incentive where they will pay US $80 for both nights.
